15/2/10 - For the third year in a row the Blitz failed at the final hurdle and were beaten in the Grand Final. In a fantastic see-saw match the Blitz took the lead through a D Kahuroa run. Then the Vipers fought back to lead 12-7 at half time. In the third quarter Rohan Williams kept the ball and took off down the sideline for the go ahead score to make it 14-12. Then, once again, the Vipers fired back to make it 18-14 at the start of the final period. A rifle pass from Williams to Lachlan Thompson put the Blitz ahead 21-18 with 9 minutes to go. Yet again the Vipers scored to retake the lead 26-21. The Blitz had 5 minutes but couldn't move the ball and the final score remained 26-21. The Blitz are the best team never to win a Grand Final and this loss is a bitter disappointment yet again. The Blitz would like to thank all of our supporters and players for their continued effort this year. We wish our All Stars and Western Raiders the very best in their upcoming games. Season 2009-10 is now over. The tackle bags have been put away and the lights turned out. But the Blitz will be back for 2010-11. Watch this space.
The 2009-10 Perth Blitz
9/2/10 - In a titanic struggle the Blitz knocked out the favoured Steelers on Saturday to advance to their third straight Gridiron West championship game. The Steelers led 3-0 at half time but the Blitz fought back with scores from Nic Nottingham and Marcus Mattox to lead 12-3 at the end of the third quarter. The Steelers managed a score to make it 12-10 but a vital interception by Blitz conerback Paul Mammotte inside 2 minutes finished the game. The Blitz next face the Vipers in a repeat of last year's big game. Kick off is at 6pm at North Beach Rugby Club, Kitchener Street, North Beach.
1/2/10 - The 2009-10 regular season came to a close on Saturday with both the Blitz and Boltz winning. The Boltz took out the winless Fire. The Blitz beat the Jets 32-12 with an efficient offense and brutal defense. The Blitz next face the Steelers in the semi-final (Sat 6th Feb @ 4.30pm North Beach).
18/1/10 - The Blitz faced the league leading Vipers on Saturday. The Blitz jumped out to an early lead after a TD pass from Rohan Williams to Darragh Farrell. Then the Vipers foughts back to take the lead 16-8 at half time. The Blitz looked like scoring but turned the ball over allowing the Vipers another score to make the final 24-8. There is a break of a week now before the Blitz finish the regular season against the Jets at North Beach (30th Jan @ 4.30pm).
21/12/9 - The winless Fire were never a match for the Blitz and the game very quickly went away from them. Early Blitz scores by D Kahuroa, Aaron Allingham, Marty Flaherty and Darragh Farrell gave the Blitz a 26-0 lead after just the 1st quarter. By halftime the Blitz had added scores from Farrell and Kahuroa again, Lachlan Thompson and Brendan Lalley to make the score 54-0 at halftime. The Fire could not continue in the second half. The win brings 2009 to an end for the Blitz with an 8-4 record. The Blitz now prepare to face the league leading Vipers on 16th January after the holiday break. Training resumes on 7th January. The Blitz would like to wish our families and friends all the very best for the holiday season. Merry Blitzmas!!
14/12/9 - After a tight clash with the top of the table Steelers the Blitz crashed to defeat against the Saints. The Saints power running game was too much for the Blitz defense and the Blitz offense couldn't match the scoring pace. This loss drops the Blitz into a 3-way fight for the finals.
8/12/9 - In a thrilling game the Blitz and Steelers fought out a tight defensive struggle all day. The Blitz took the early lead through a Toby Hall interception return for a touchdown. But the Steelers responded and converted to take the lead. The Steelers scored again and the Blitz fought back with a touchdown from Rohan Williams. But once again they couldn't convert and the Steelers hung on for the win. Final score Steelers 14 - 12 Blitz. Next Saturday the Blitz face the Saints at 7pm at North Beach Rugby Club.
1/12/9 - The Blitz made it a clean sweep over the Broncos on Saturday with a narrow 12-0 win. The Broncos played hard defense but couldn't move the ball against a crushing Blitz unit. Next week the Blitz face the real test - the league topping Steelers at North Beach.
25/11/9 - Last weekend the Blitz made it three wins in a row with a dominating performance against the Steelers B team. The Steelers side struggled to move the ball and the Blitz could do so with ease. The final score was 56-8. Next weekend the Blitz face the Broncos at 7pm at South Perth.
16/11/9 - On Saturday the Blitz faced the newest independent team in Gridiron West, the Gosnells Fire. The Fire have been outnumbered and outplayed all year and Saturday was no exception. It's a learning year for the Fire and they will no doubt go winless as they build for 2010. The Blitz gave a lot of players a much needed runout and came out comfortable winners 58-0. Next week the Blitz face the Steelers B team while the Boltz (the Blitz B team) will face the league topping Steelers A.
12/11/9 - The Jets were no match for an angry Blitz team looking for revenge after the loss to the Steelers. The Blitz drove the length of the field to score on the opening drive. That pretty much set the tone for the game as the Blitz could move th eball easily on offense. Meanwhile the Blitz D was dominant and the Jets really struggle to get anything going. MVP for the game was D Kahuroa who score 34 of the Blitz 46 points behind some monster blocking from the big men. Final score Blitz 46 - 14 Jets.
4/11/9 - The Blitz 3 game winning streak was brough to an end by the best team in the league the Steelers. This was a defensive battle from the start and both defenses scored. The screo was tied at 7 each at half time. In the second half the Steelers turned the screws and the Blitz broke under the pressure allowing the Steelers to run away with it at the end. Final score Steelers 27 - 7 Blitz.
27/10/9 - The Broncos were undefeated coming into this game. But the Blitz set the tone early, taking the opening kickoff and driving the length of the field to open the scoring through a Steve Mathews dive. The Blitz defense then went to work and shut down the Broncos offense. The Blitz quickly got the ball back and scored again behind an Aaron Allingham run off tackle. The Broncos never threatened the Blitz endzone or looked like scoring as the Blitz defense was outstanding all day. Two more scores from from Steve Mathews and Rohan Williams capped off an emphatic Blitz win 24-0. This win makes it three in a row for the Blitz as they now move to 3-1. Next week the Blitz face the top of the table and undefeated Steelers. more..
19/10/9 - The Saints scored on the first play of the game - the opening kick off. They converted to take the lead 8-0. After that the Saints never looked like scoring as the Blitz defense locked them down. The Blitz offense moved the ball well and scored from a D Kahuroa run but couldn't convert. The score was 8-6 to the Saints at the end of the 1st quarter. In the 2nd quarter the Blitz engineered a long drive capped off by another Kahuroa score to make it 12-8 to the Blitz at halftime. The second half remained scoreless. The Blitz couldn't capitalise on several long drives as they dropped key passes and gave away numerous penalties. The Blitz ran out the clock in the 4th quarter to seal their second win in a row and move to 2-1. more..
19/10/9 - It was the first game against opposition for the Boltz and what a game it was. For 16 Boltz guys it was 37 Degrees but the pitch felt like 40. Jets coming off a big loss wanted this one badly and it showed in the game. The end score reading Jets 24 V Boltz 8. more..
12/10/9 - The Blitz A team got its first points of the season on Saturday with a narrow 24-20 win over the Blitz B team the Boltz. Even though they are team-mates there was no love lost in this game and the Boltz really took it to the A team all game. The game was a great opportunity for all Blitz players to get valuable game time. This Saturday the Blitz face the Saints. more..
5/10/9 - The 2009-10 season got off to a disappointing start with the Blitz going down 6-27 to the Champion Vipers. Both sides looked rusty but the Vipers made fewer mistakes and took their chances when they got them. The Blitz B team was on a bye this week. Next weekend is a Blitz carnival as the A and B teams face off against each other!!!
25/9/9 - The Blitz are proud to launch a new initiative we call Partner Clubs. Our first partner club is the South Sound Shockers in the Pacific Northwest. Check out the menu link for more information!
21/9/9 - THE BLITZ ANNOUNCE A 2ND TEAM!!! This season the Blitz will enter 2 teams into the GridironWest competition. This decision is great news for the club. It guarantees more game time to players who are new, returning from injury or out of shape. The 2nd team is a great opportunity for new players to still join the club even though the season is just around the corner.

11/2/9 - The 2008-9 season came to an end on Saturday with the Blitz narrowly losing to the Vipers in an epic battle. The Vipers had a 36-17 lead at half time and the Blitz fought back to take the lead 43-42 with just minutes to spare. However the Vipers drove the length of the field to score at the death and take out the title. The Blitz now lick their wounds and regroup for the off-season. Next up - the end of year wind-up on 27th February.
3/2/9 - The Blitz booked a place in the Grand Final with a thrilling 13-6 win over the Steelers on Saturday. It was the perfect start for the Blitz as their defence scored with an interception return for a touchdown by Adam Steen. The Steelers fought back and scored to make it 6-6 at half time. But in the second half the Blitz defence stepped up and another score from Lachlan Thompson was enough to see the boys in blue home. This Saturday the Blitz look to win their first title against the Vipers.
